“First and foremost jewelry should be wearable art. But it should also never harm our oceans. Since becoming involved with Coral Reinterpreted, I’ve learned that coral reefs support 25 percent of all known marine life. There are more than 5,000 species of corals, two-thirds of which are found at least 400 feet below sea level. These deep-sea coral species, such as red and pink corals, are some of the most widely used but least protected. It’s vitally important that these fragile marine animals be afforded international trade protection before it’s too late. Through my design I hope to raise awareness of the need to protect our coral reefs.”
